A special thanks to the United Performing Arts Fund (UPAF) and Johnson Control for the opportunity to share in such an amazing experience that is geared towards introducing culture into the lives of individuals through music, dance and storytelling. On December 15, Havenwoods residents were captivated by First Stage’s performance of Rudolph that was full of adventures and laughs. This is the first of many performances that UPAF has offered at no expense to Havenwoods residents.
UPAF and Johnson Controls are sponsoring five additional events for Havenwoods residents. Two will be at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts. These are Mockingbird (March 28), a play about individual perseverance and community, and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra’s performance of Rachmaninoff and Beethoven’s 5th Symphony (April 23).
Three additional events will come right to the Havenwoods Neighborhood this year – dates and times TBA soon. They are:
Hip Hop: provides a broad collection of urban dance styles including breaking, popping, locking, turfing, jerkin and krumping which all influenced and are used by today’s top video choreographers.
Responsibility in Action: teaches youth how to set goals, work positively andeffectively with others and problem solve.
The Bully Ban: geared toward bringing awareness and inspire kids to respect other views and be a positive example for others, helping the to make positive choices.
